He is a 15.2 and a half hh Irish Sport Horse gelding showing all the attributes of being a future superstar. His has talent and scope over a fence combined with an incredibly easy going and trainable temperament. He is safe and quiet to handle and ride and has 3 lovely paces with a good natural rhythm and cadence. He has been jumping with Jamie and Sue Coman and is an absolute natural. With a balanced canter he draws to a fence very nicely and has an elastic and scopey jump.

He had his first outing at the NVSJC show where he was perfectly behaved standing at the float all day and jumped around the 60cm and 75cm courses without any trouble at all. He was just as quiet at the competition as he is at home. He has also done lots of hacking out, often with less experienced riders as he is our quietest and safest horse!

He placed 7th at his first horse trials at Albury, competed Intro at Heytesbury and
at Oaklands HT.

Flight is a super special horse – it really is hard to come across a horse that has such a trainable willing attitude as well as the talent to take you to the top.

Whoever ends up with him will be very lucky!

ESB Irish Flight is one very special horse. What he lacks in size, he makes up for in talent and heart. He has a massive jump, good paces and is extremely sensible and rideable. He would make a fantastic partner for a competitive junior or a small adult rider who has lots of ambition for the higher levels of eventing competition.

RE ESB Irish Maverick

I recently returned to Australia after 21 years living overseas and a 15 year break from riding. Once back and with my family settled in schools, sport and work I decided to return to riding. I found a sport vastly changed. The expensive horses, a highly competitive market and a very commercial approach to buying and selling horses was a daunting experience for me. I began to hate the search.

Then I met Vanessa Hawkins. In Vanessa, I found a dedicated, skilled and passionate horse-woman with impressive knowledge and experience in breeding, training and preparing horses and riders for any discipline. I found a woman with efficient organizational skills, great interpersonal skills and a good dose of compassion for my difficulty in finding ‘the one’. I also found she has beautiful horses.

Over a number of weeks, I visited Euroa Horse Park and rode several horses. After each ride, we had an honest debrief, what it looked like, what it felt like, how it might or might not work? Vanessa always gave an honest appraisal of each horse’s fit for my purpose and match for my ability, something I valued enormously.

I also appreciated her straight-forward, non-judgmental responses to my calls and texts full of questions and concerns. Last week ESB Irish Maverick arrived at his new home. Already he is well settled and a partnership developing. He is a young horse that has had an exceptional start and like any kid who has had a good up-bringing he is responsive, willing and well mannered. Typical of the sport horse breed he is calm and athletic. What is the difference between Mav and the other fabulous horses I rode at Euroa Horse Park? He was just ‘the one’ for me.
